Individual classes focus on the language related to the professional areas of interest to the student. Intensive learning in a number of key areas, including presentation.

General English
15h per week


For students who want to improve all areas of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, writing and listening. Emphasis is on communicative, student-centred lessons that are both enjoyable and rewarding. Homework is given regularly with revision of each weeks work every Friday and a progress test is given every 2 – 3 weeks. Tutorials are given every 2 weeks or weekly at the request of the student or teacher; however, you can talk to your teacher or the Director of Studies any time about your studies.

General English
30h per week


For students who want to improve in the shortest time possible. A very intensive course as students study General English in any combination of morning, afternoon and evening. Students could also choose to combine General English with the conversation class.

Conversation Class
15h per week
  • A fluency based course with an emphasis on pronunciation.
  • Students practise speaking in a relaxed environment.
  • Discussion topics are negotiated by the teacher and students and may be based around a spoken or written text. Students may also do presentations, projects and prepare questionnaires to ask other students or members of the public.

IELTS Intensive
30h per week


Students study General English in the morning and IELTS in the afternoon so that their English skills continue to improve as they work on their examination skills. Perfect for students who want a very intensive course focused on obtaining the IELTS score required to take the exam but are worried that their English level is not good enough yet to get the score they need.

An intensive examination preparation class covering all the areas of the IELTS exam: Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening. This course helps the student obtain the highest score possible for their English level.

Themed Course - Fashion
2h per week


London is one of the world’s fashion centres and famous from drawing its inspiration from the street culture, the course will range from Carnaby Street to the Kings Road, from ateliers to nightclubs, Boy George to Galliano and McQueen. Lecture/demonstration, V&A museum visit, final project has students carry out their own fashion show.

Themed Course - Media & Technology
2h per week


A study of modernity and new technologies. Students will create and develop their own websites and blogs and use technology to communicate creatively and in excellent English. This course will also look at all forms of media from the London based newspapers to broadsheets and the BBC and study issues including how local events are reported and how advertising is created in the modern media age.

Themed Course - Film & Music
2h per week


A study of  music and film focusing particularly on London/English performers and film makers. From the protest music of Tom Robinson and Jimmy Sommerville, through the controversial glamour of David Bowie, Elton John, George Michael, Boy George, Marc Almond, Andy Bell and (Frankie goes to Hollywood) to the pulped perfection of Will Young today. This creativity has been sustained by the vibrant London club scene which continues to mould much of British and world popular culture. The course will also study film internationally  and will incorporate the annual London Film Festival.

Themed Course - Literature
2h per week


Book club, text analysis, tour of literary sites, final project based around students giving an oral presentation of their literary study. This course looks at London’s contributions to literature past and present, from Wilde and Wolfe to Orton and Hollinghurst, within a broader context of world literature. Students will learn creative writing skills and write and read their own poetry and short stories.

Themed Course - Lifestyle
2h per week


A study of how the individuals role in society has changed in the last 20 years. The role of sex is at the core of this course and issues will range from weighty issues such as the politics of sexual identity, drugs, hedonism, different sexual orientations and AIDS to the lighter side of TV design makeover shows and the perfect civil partnership party!

Work Experience

Gain the Cambridge Certificate in Work Experience on a sandwich course that combines English study in the school with a paid work placement in the hospitality industry. Students can take a course of a minimum of 15 weeks with 3 weeks of General English and 12 weeks of paid work experience up to a maximum of one year. Students complete an assessment questionnaire for the Standard level qualification and an assessment portfolio for the advanced level. The certificate is internationally recognised and of particular value when applying for jobs. Applicants need to be of at least intermediate level to be accepted on this course.

Business World

The course is consist of General English (15 hours a week) and one to one lessons (6 hours a week). A combination of General English in a group plus one to one lessons with a private tutor who can prepare lessons based on each student’s individual needs. The one to one lessons could be focused on any area of Business English (for example, presentation skills, negotiation skills, marketing) or on English for Special Purposes (such as English for nursing or journalism) or on General English areas such as grammar or pronunciation. This course is perfect for the business professional who wants to improve their English in a specific area or for any student who would like some individual attention paid to areas of their choice.
